Our Church Vision is to be a friendly, vibrant, growing Christian fellowship, meeting the spiritual needs of the surrounding community, and offering a haven of refuge and a lighthouse of faith.

The mission of our Community Services Team is to equip and mobilize our members to meet a range of needs in the community around the church, seeking opportunities to share Jesus.  To this end, we organize/support/sponsor the following activities:

January:  the Howard County Cold Weather Shelter (CWS) program, by partnering with other churches to provide housing, food, transportation, etc. for the homeless. In past years we have partnered with Cornerstone Community Church of Columbia, Maryland; Glen Mar United Methodist Church of Ellicott City, Maryland; and Bethany United Methodist Church of Ellicott City, Maryland.

February:  a Community Marriage Enrichment Weekend retreat, usually over Valentine’s Weekend, in the beautiful Dunes Manor Hotel at Ocean City, Maryland. Partnering with us are the Linden-Linthicum United Methodist Church of Clarksville, Maryland; Mount Zion United Methodist Church of Fulton, Maryland; and Maranatha Adventist Fellowship of Bowie, Maryland.

March:  assisting victims of violence via the Howard County Domestic Violence Center with current needs such as providing personal item kits for moms and kids, babysitting, gardening, office support.

May:  the River Hill High Post-Prom (non-alcoholic) Party with an annual donation – encouraging the young people to be better “safe than sorry.”

June-August: a quality Vacation Bible School for community children, based on a Bible story that teaches good character building lessons.

July:  the Clarksville/River Hill July 4th Parade with a float, music, marchers, and free handouts (fans for the parade viewers sizzling in the heat and humidity!)

August: a booth at the Howard County Fair, sharing Jesus with lots of fair-goers who stop to visit.

September:  Howard County’s Drug-Free with an annual contribution; selecting a young person to serve on the HCDF council; help distribute HCDF newsletters.

November:  25-35 Thanksgiving Baskets to families in Howard County who might otherwise not have much for which to be thankful. (Containing a complete Thanksgiving dinner and other gifts.)

December:  Neighbor Network’s Adopt A Family Christmas Project in meeting the Wish Lists of families in Howard County who might not otherwise have a happy Christmas.

December:  Door-to-door Christmas Caroling in early December.

In addition to the above specifically timed projects, we sponsor/organize:
  • monthly food drives for the Howard County Food Bank (located on 108 and its satellite at the United Methodist Church in Glen Elg), and the Grassroots Homeless Shelter in Atholton;
  • a monthly Saturday night supper at the Grassroots Homeless Shelter in Atholton;
  • provide our church fellowship hall facility for LifeLine screening, various community programs and/or events, vegetarian cooking classes, family life lectures, garage sales, and a Fall Festival for Kids.

Church member and Co-Leader of the Triadelphia ACS Team is May-Ellen Colón who is sponsored by our church to serve on and represent our church in Clarksville’s Rotary.  Her active participation in Rotary gives us contacts with community leaders that helps us to meet some of the felt needs in our County.
