Triadelphia Worship and Music
Philosophy

(1) The Triadelphia Adventist Church recognizes that worship is one of the most important activities of humankind. Our worship service consists of praise, prayers of intercession, petitions, Scripture reading and exposition, bringing of gifts and sacrifices, as well as good music. Worship focuses on God, not on us. The attempt to organize a vibrant worship service only in order for us to feel good, be entertained, or entertain others misses the purpose of true worship. But if we put God first we ourselves will also receive rich blessings.

(2) Our worship service, preaching, and teaching is grounded on Scripture and applied to our present situation. It is important for us that the biblical message in all its aspects be proclaimed. We love to gain new insights in the Word of God, lift up Jesus as our Savior, High Priest, and King, and follow Him closely.

(3) We use variety in our worship service and stress involvement of church members, youth, and others not just in the different departments of the church but also in worship service.

(4) We support good and vibrant music as defined by the Music Guidelines of the Seventh-day Adventist Church which in turn are based on biblical principles and insights from the writings of E. G. White.

(5) Our music is to honor God, point to Jesus, enhance our worship service, and support the proclamation of the gospel. We do not make music for music’s sake but to help people focus on God and find Jesus. We want to avoid musical selections that (1) draw the attention of the congregation too much on the musician instead of on God and/or (2) create irreverent connotations. Music is also used as an outreach tool as well as a tool that may help people/church members to become integrated in the church.

(6) We support a variety of musical styles but stay away from extremes. We know that music is not neutral. We are not ashamed of our approach and acknowledge that we may be different from other churches. We want to be open yet do not feel the need to imitate others.

(7) Our music includes congregational participation in singing as much as possible participation by our own church members, youth, and children in instrumental and vocal music. Therefore we choose to use them as organists, pianists, and musicians who perform special music, accompany others, and are involved in musical groups. As often as possible we try to form choirs. Our church does not only support specialists but tries to involve the musical talent of all its members.

(8) Because of the many talents that we have and want to foster we want to avoid pre-recorded music/accompaniment as much as possible.
